On September 5, a delegation of six members from the Chin Yuan Lab. of NCSIST, led by Section Chief, visited the Fire Experimental Center of the ABRI. The visit was arranged to gain deeper insights into fire safety testing and its practical applications through on-site discussions and exchanges.
Following a brief introduction in the lobby on the layout of the center’s experimental areas, the visit proceeded with tours of the fire resistance testing laboratory, the two large-scale experimental fire houses, the large-scale smoke control experiment, the 10 MW large-scale calorimeter system, fire performance testing of electrical wires and cables, smoke control equipment testing, the fire resistance structural testing facility, and research equipment for smoke density/FTIR analysis.
During the on-site visit, the delegation engaged in exchanges with the center’s staff on both theoretical and practical issues related to the operation of fire resistance tests on building structural components, test instrumentation layout, and criteria for evaluating test results. The visitors expressed that they were left with a strong impression of the center’s research expertise and experimental validation capabilities.
