As part of the “Drafting and Development Project for Validation Methods of Digital Aging Technology Products and Services in Residential Settings,” our institute held two sessions of the “Value Proposition Workshop on Validation of Digital Aging Technology Products and Services in Residential Settings” on April 17 and 22, 2026. The events were hosted at the GIS NTU Convention Center (Locke Hall) in Taipei and the GIS Taichung Xinwuri Convention Center (Baben Hall), respectively.
Each corporate team was paired with a teaching assistant to guide them in applying design thinking and innovative thinking and tools. The workshops aimed to support companies intending to introduce products and services into the home lives of older adults by helping them clarify market positioning and target audiences, identify use scenarios and user pain points, explore product differentiation and competitive advantages, and formulate clear value proposition statements.
A total of 19 corporate teams participated in the workshops. Team members included CEOs as well as professionals from operations, strategy, marketing, sales, R&D, project management, and business planning. The participating companies covered a wide range of sectors, including aging care technology, smart health, assistive devices, and AI-enabled digital services.
Professor Calvin Lai, Chief Strategy Officer of NTU iNSIGHT, shared key concepts of design thinking and innovation methodologies. With the support of teaching assistants, teams explored how their products and services could address the pain points of target users and differentiate themselves from competitors. Each team then created and presented a value proposition poster based on their discussions.
Throughout the workshops, participants were highly engaged and actively exchanged ideas with one another. Following the workshops, interdisciplinary experts in venture capital, field operations, the silver economy, and technical feasibility will be invited to review the companies’ submitted value proposition proposals. These experts will provide evaluation and guidance on the appropriateness of product and service positioning, helping companies assess the conditions and competitiveness required to enter their target markets.
