To promote green building materials in-line with international standard, ABRI has organized “International Forum of Green Building Material Label and Circular Economy”.

In order to promote the domestic green building material label system and to be in-line with international standards, with an objective to assist domestic industry to understand international label system and overseas business opportunities, today (11th) ABRI has held " International Forum of Green Building Material Label and Circular Economy " at the Socrates Hall of the GIS NTU Conference Center. This forum invites representatives of overseas building materials label organizations, and domestic building materials industry to deliver keynote speeches and engage interactive communication.
International keynote speakers including Mr. Hiro Kobayashi from JEA, Mr. Chean Siang Liow from SEC, and Dr. Chuttree Phurat from TEI. Local speakers including Dr. Wen-Ching Chen from EDF, Mr. Edward Jao from Taiwan Green Building Material Council, and Mr. James Lin from Taibao Glass Industrial Corporation. The themes of this forum cover subjects such as “Establishment of circular economy system for green building material industries”, “Opportunities and market potentials for international market of green building materials”, “Green building materials and circular economy in Japan”, “The green label for green building materials in Singapore”, “The green label for green building materials in Thailand”, and ”Experience with manufacturing and marketing of green building materials in Taiwan.
Director General Rong-Jing Wang of ABRI has expressed that in recent years, the problem of global warming and shortage of energy resources has gradually become an important issue of global concern. In the past, traditional manufacturing pursued mass production and created demand, and less attention was given to recycling resources. Therefore, a large amount of waste was accompanied. Nowadays such business models have quietly transformed around the world, more and more companies are gradually focusing on innovative product design, shared services and recycling, instead of simply focused on the growth of product quantity. In the meantime, circular economy and the rise of the green economy has been seen as an important kinetic energy for the next wave of global economic growth.
Director General Rong-Jing Wang further indicated that, when ABRI established green building material label system back in 2004, it has already incorporated the concept of recycling. Green building materials contained four major categories namely ecology, health, high performance and recycling. Among which, “recycling green building materials” means that local waste materials should be reused according to a certain proportion of blending materials. As of the end of August this year, ABRI has accredited 184 recycled green building material labels to demonstrate excellent promotion performance.
ABRI pointed out that this forum invites representatives of label organizations from Japan, Singapore and Thailand to share relevant business opportunities of respective national label system and the circular economy. In addition to support local green building material label to be in-line with international standards, it can also assist domestic industry to master the benchmarks and business opportunities related to building materials in various countries
This “International Forum of Green Building Material Label and Circular Economy” has attracted more than 120 professional participants who have very active interaction with the speakers and other guests. The event was very successful.
