Abstract

Ⅰ. Research Background
This research explores issues concerning planning and design guidelines of public kindergarten, especially concerning about the basic functions of architecture spaces.

Ⅱ. Research Methodology and process
This research will clarify and explore recommendations concerning the planning and design guidelines of public kindergarten.
(Ⅰ)Data Collection – Gather domestic and abroad data on guidelines of kindergarten.
(Ⅱ)Case study – Analyze and discuss the issues of public kindergarten cases in domestic and abroad.
(Ⅲ)Comprehensive review - Summarize the principles of public kindergarten and providing supplements for planner、designer and operators.

Ⅲ. Major findings (described briefly as follows)
(Ⅰ)The Planning and Design Specifications of kindergarten needs amendment with estimate discoveries, and some domestic public kindergartens was limited by redundant and neglected spaces.
(Ⅱ) Developed the planning and design principles of public kindergarten.
(Ⅲ)Established the planning and design principles of education、nursing and playing space with a concept of separating dine and sleep space.
Ⅳ. Main Recommendations (described briefly as follows)
    The followings are the three specific recommendations for the administrative agencies: 
(Ⅰ)Immediately Feasible Recommendation:
Publish the handbook of planning and design principles of public kindergarten.
Lead Agency: Architecture and Building Research Institute Ministry of Interior.
Support Agency: K-12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education.

(Ⅱ) Intermediately Feasible Recommendation:
Amend the Planning and Design Specifications of kindergarten.
Lead Agency: K-12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education.
Support Agency: Department of Education of municipalities, and Architecture and Building Research Institute Ministry of Interior.
