Abstract

Scenic trials that located in suburban areas are the major leisure destinations in the country. In the past, the trails were designed for general public. However, Taiwan is to become an aging society, the aging population is increasing; seniors tend to have less mobility, and lose cognitive skills and abilities. The current designs for road signs, voice indication devices, or other equipments are no longer suit the needs of elders, people who use wheelchairs or with disabilities. Thus, due the increasing of aging populations and the rising human right, their safety and needs have to be take into account.
The purpose of this essay is to propose the design standards for scenic trials by discussing both overseas and domestic regulations, standards, and cases.
