Performance Validation plan of Formaldehyde and TVOC Evaluation Benchmark by Sorptive Green Building Materials

Abstract
1.Origin of the study
With the international community for the "Building and Material Industry " are highly
valued, in addition to the effective introduction of High-Quality green, nontoxic building
materials out of the indoor environment, for the "New Types absorptivity of building
materials" has introduced the standard (ISO,JIS). In view of this, continuation of this plan
99 years “Validation program on testing methods of formaldehyde and TVOC absorption
performance for green building materials” and combined with the implementation of
national CNS standard draft amendments, difference of adsorption performance validation
through the national green building materials provide a comprehensive evaluation
absorptivity of building materials base method. This year establishment of the spindle
through 99-domestic absorptivity of building materials of Standard Operating Procedures
(SOP), selected final surface to performance validation of the adsorption test (different
environmental factors and adsorption saturation), and through the assessment based,
includes standard methods, evaluation items and scope of recognition methods to specific
application procedures and improve efficiency. Develop new projects as the future of
green building materials label and evaluation based of reference.
2.Content of the study
With the high air-tightness and ventilation deficiencies of modern residential and
energy-efficient buildings, countries in the world gradually emphasize that the
well-controlled of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Indoor Environment Health (IEH) would
reduce the hazards of human health. Since 2004 to promote "green building materials
mark-GBML ", Architecture and Building Research Institute, Minister of the Interior. In
Taiwan, considering the impact of IAQ on human health, the proportion of green building
materials has been increased from 5% to 30% through the regulation of the “Building
Technical Regulations” and the next will be 30% to 45%. Combined with 100 years of
Ministry of economic seized, proposed to draft ISO 16000-23 and 24 as a CNS baseline
revision. In fact, a lot of building materials and indoor decoration materials also have the
function of absorbing chemical pollutants, including the physical and chemical features of
material absorptivity, relevant researches have proposed that the adsorption/desorption
process of indoor building materials is important for the transmission and distribution of
indoor chemical pollutants as well as the IAQ. This study to the promotion of the
“Adsorption of indoor chemical pollutants” through innovative of New types for sorptive
building materials has stimulated the efficiency of indoor environment and health as well
as energy saving and carbon reduction in future. The methods to effectively control and
remove indoor chemical pollutants are important.
3.Important discovery
Expected goals and achievements in 2011 are as follows:
1. To develop national green building materials evaluation of the adsorption
performance of indoor formaldehyde and TVOC scope found the draft benchmarks.
2. To complete the building materials of domestic final surface adsorptivity of testing
and validation of quantitative assessment.
3. To provide adsorption performance of building materials specific applications and
strategies for improved efficiency.
